Vocational Services
Volunteer Placements
The SCALE program offers volunteer sites that cater to different levels of experience and skills. Below is a brief description of each volunteer site:
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels program is located in the Andover Senior Center in Andover, Massachusetts. Students learn food prep, sanitation guidelines, stocking and rotation of stock.
Lawrence General Hospital
At Lawrence General our students participate in several departments. The departments they work in are Radiology, Cafeteria, Food Prep, Coffee Shop, Materials Distribution Center, and Housekeeping.
Job Shop
Our new onsite program, Job Shop, is an introduction to job skills to help new students transition to volunteer jobsites. It is also geared towards students who have basic job skills and need to find a fit for their occupational strengths.
St. Francis’s Parish
Housekeeping
Annie’s Book Stop
Located on Rt 28 in Salem, NH Annie’s Book Stop is a small, quaint bookstore that sells used books. SCALE students organize and stock the books. The students have been so effective that the owner has designated one of her rooms for us to manage.
MSPCA
Our students and staff visit the MSPCA every week to help with the dogs and cats there. The students help with light cleaning, supply organization, walking the dogs and socializing with the cats.
Businesses and individuals interested in providing our students with the opportunity to expand their vocational skills in an integrated, community setting, please contact Debra Giordano at dgiordano@glec.org
