Therapies such as PT, OT and Speech are coordinated through the individual school districts as indicated in the student’s IEPs.
Weekly group discussions, lead by licensed therapists explore personal issues, work topics, home/living arrangements, and transitions to adult services. These discussions take place in a setting that respects the confidentiality of the student.
The Next Step Program staff includes a teaching and support staff for classroom and community-based experiences.

Staff
Deanna LamportDeanna Lamport is the Lead Teacher at the Next Step Program. She received her BS in Education from Fitchburg State College. She also has a Master’s of Education from Cambridge College. She is certified in Intensive Special Needs and has 19 years of Special Education experience, all with local educational collaboratives.
Christa LaCharite Christa LaCharite received a BA from Wheelock College where her major was American Studies and Elementary Education. She is interested in Deaf culture and has over five years of training in American Sign Language. She is currently enrolled in a Master’s degree program through GLEC from UMASS Boston for Special Education. Christa has worked as the Program Assistant for Methuen's Extended School Year program and has been utilized as a substitute in the Special Education classes in that district.
