Teams play in both two-team matches and three-team matches. The winner of the match is the team with the most "Competition Points." The winner of the tournament is the team with the most cumulative competition points. If a match is canceled or interrupted and is unable to be rescheduled, a ruling will be made regarding an adjustment to the system, if warranted.
Each match is in two parts: Table Activities and On Stage Buzzer Rounds. "Competition points" are awarded according to how well a team does in each part, in each section of each part, and overall.
Two Team Match: 11 competition points will be awarded.
TABLES: 4 points awarded. The first part of the match consists of three activities. For each activity, the team that gets the higher score gets 1 competition point. The team with the higher total score for all three activities gets 1 competition point.
BUZZER ROUNDS: 5 points awarded. The second part of the match conists of four buzzer rounds played on stage. The winner of each round gets one competition point. The team with the higher total score for all four buzzer rounds gets 1 competition point.
HIGHER TOTAL SCORE : 2 points awarded. The team with the higher total score (combining tables and buzzer rounds) gets 2 competition points. Note: It is theoretically possible to have more total points than the other team but not have more competition points than the other team.
Three Team Match: 27 competition points will be awarded
TABLES: 12 points awarded. The first part of the match consists of three activities. For each activity, the team that gets the highest score gets 2 competition points. The team with the next highest score gets 1 competition point. The team with the highest total score for all three activities gets 2 competition points. The team with the next highest overall score for the three activities gets 1 competition point.
BUZZER ROUNDS: 7 points awarded. The second part of the match conists of six buzzer rounds played on stage. Each team plays two squads from one team and two squads from the other team. The winner of each round gets 1 competition point. The team with the higher total score for all four buzzer rounds gets 2 competition points.The team with the next highest total score for all four buzzer rounds gets 1 competition point.
HIGHEST TOTAL SCORE : 6 points awarded. The team with the higher total score (combining tables and buzzer rounds) gets 4 competition points. The team with the next highest total score (combining tables and buzzer rounds) gets 2 competition points. Note: It might be possible to have more a higher total score than the other team but not have more competition points than the other team.
The maximum number of cumulative competition points any one team could theroetically score in the tournament is 76, broken down as follows:
Table Points: 32 (8 points possible in 3-way matches, 4 points possible in 2-way matches)
Stage Points: 28 (6 points possible in 3-way matches, 5 points possible in 2-way matches)
Final Score Points: 16 (4 points possible in 3-way matches, 2 points possible in 2-way matches)
Total: 76 (Each team plays three 3-way matches and two 2-way matches)
