MAPS to the Schools in Academic Bowl

Parents and Visitors: These maps show you where to find all the schools in the tournament. Parents are always welcome at the matches.

Students: Make up questions using these maps. Go to mapquest.com and enter the school addresses for more details. Think about where schools are relative to each other and relative to major roads and landmarks, such as: Route 28 (Main Street in Andover, Broadway in Lawrence and Methuen), I-495, I-93, I-95, the Merrimack, Shawsheen and Spicket Rivers, Ayers Mill Clock Tower, etc.  If you want, submit questions to your advisor for the Quizmaster. The best questions will be posted and some will even be used in matches 13-18.  Include your first name, grade, school and team.

Some Familiar Greater Lawrence Landmarks

B: Methuen Water Tower
, Forest Street, just west of I-93.
C: The Loop Shopping Mall
, between Pleasant Valley Street and rte. 213, Methuen
D: Ayer Mill Clock Tower
(at New Balance Shoe Factory), 5 South Union Street, Lawrence
E: Showcase Cinema
, on rte. 114, just northwest of I-495, Lawrence
F: Greater Lawrence Community Boating

A: Tower Hill Water Tower is a familiar site from many places in and around Lawrence. It is located near the Bellvue Cemetery, just north of the Bruce School. B: The Methuen Water Tower is visible from Interstate 93 as you drive north from Andover. For several miles it is almost directly in line with I-93.
C: The Loop is a familiar place to many teens. It is located on the former site of the Methuen Mall, which was torn down after competition from the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem and other factors put it out of business.
C: The Loop's logo has become a familiar new image in Methuen.
D:The Ayer Mill Clock Tower is visible from many places in and around Lawrence. The four clock faces are the second largest in the world, just six inches smaller than Big Ben's in London, England. It sits on top of the building owned by New Balance Shoe Company, at 5 South Union Street, South Lawrence. The clock was in disrepair until a group of citizens lead a drive to restore it in the late 1980's and early 90's. F: Greater Lawrence Community Boating is a place where people of all ages can learn to sail, canoe, and row. It is located on the south side of the Merrimack River, between I-93 and rte. 28. Yes, the massive Great Stone Dam is only 1/2 mile down river, but there are many safety precautions that will keep you from never getting near it. GLCB is open in July and August.
