Parents, Can you help with Parent Night?

Parents needed for last three meetings of Parent Advisory Committee to help plan Parent Night. Meetings are Monday, March 9 at GLEC Central Office, Monday, March 23 and April 6 at South Lawrence East School Library. (These dates are also on the updated schedule. See tab at left). On Tuesday, January 20, 2009, history will be made with the inauguration of Barack Obama, our first African-American president. With such interest in the presidential election in recent months, one of the subjects we are focusing on in the Academic Bowl is knowing our presidential history. Three-way matches 7, 8, and 9 will ask students to know their group of presidents in order, the exact dates of the terms, how many terms they served, their political party, and major historical events which happened during the time they were president. Directions

The advisors have had their first meeting and an outline of the tournament has been created. To see what areas of knowledge we are focusing on this year, click on the "Question Formats" tab to the left. The schools have been paired to form the teams and the advisors are in the process of selecting their players. Eighteen schools are participating this year, including, for the first time, Bellesini Academy of Lawrence. For a history of team formations click on the "History of Teams" tab to the left.
